Introduction :
LI-6400 Portable Photosynthesis System is an open-path gas exchange measuring system. This equipment is composed of two major units: system console and Infrared Gas Analyzer (IRGA) sensor head. The system console is equipped with a micro-processor, gas pumps (and associated piping and valves), flow rate control units, CO2 and H2O scrubbers, CO2 mixer, and power supply. The sensor head contains two sets of IRGAs, which measure the real-time concentrations of CO2 and H2O. With the known flow rate set by the system console, the gas exchange of CO2 and H2O in the leaf chamber can be measured. The sensor head is also equipped with a Red/Blue LED light source and environmental controlling system, which make it possible to artificially control the light intensity, temperature, and humidity of the leaf chamber. The system console of the LI-6400 is installed with an open source operating system in order to provide the user interface and calculate various environmental parameters and outputs. This operating system is programmable for the automatic controls of the environmental variables in the leaf chamber. This enables researchers to easily measure the Light response curve and CO2 response curve (A-Ci Curve) of leaves.
